The NCSU Libraries invites applications and nominations for the position
of Geospatial Data Services Librarian. The Libraries’ innovative spatial
and numeric data services program provides access to Geographic
Information Systems (GIS) software, training, and data resources,
serving faculty and students across the university. The position is
based in the Research and Information Services Department (16
librarians, 7 support staff, and graduate assistants), where
user-centered services include research consultation, an interactive
virtual reference desk, a program of user instruction and information
skills training, and customized support for distance learners and
undergraduates. The Libraries has recently open an innovative and
attractive new Learning Commons offering access to a wide range of
resources, software, and expertise.

Responsibilities
Develops and manages spatial and numeric data resources and services,
including GIS services, supporting teaching, research, and
extension/engagement at the university. Consults with faculty and
students to analyze data needs and to develop instructional modules,
including classroom presentations, Web-based tutorials, data
documentation, and research resources. Participates in the selection,
organization, delivery, and management of data collections. Establishes
configurations for the Libraries’ public GIS workstations and offers
guidance in their use. Collects and develops metadata and maintains
awareness of metadata standards and trends. Interacts with faculty-led
research groups at the university and digital library colleagues in the
region, across the country, and internationally. Fosters outreach and
collaboration with state and local government agencies. Serves on
library-wide committees, task forces, and teams. Librarians at the NCSU
Libraries are expected to be active professionally and to contribute to
developments in the field. Reports to the Data Services Librarian.

Qualifications
Required: ALA-accredited MLS or equivalent advanced degree in a relevant
discipline. Experience with geospatial data resources and knowledge of
current issues, technologies, and software applications related to those
resources. Demonstrated ability to identify, retrieve, and use data
resources. Familiarity with electronic government resources such as
census and statistical data. Understanding of the educational mission of
a research university and a demonstrated service orientation. Excellent
interpersonal skills; ability to communicate clearly, knowledgeably, and
personably, orally and in writing, with clients and colleagues. Ability
to work collaboratively in a team environment; ability to work
independently. Preferred: ALA-accredited MLS.

repository development projects, researches and recommends enhancements,

repository technologies and applications; serves on library-wide and
regional committees, task forces, and teams; and represents the
Libraries at regional and national meetings, consortia, and

Qualifications

related disciplines, and participates on the Libraries’ collection management subject team for life sciences. The Head works closely with College of Veterinary Medicine administrators, faculty, staff, and students, and provides research and information instruction, support, and consultation, in both physical and virtual environments. She or he participates in library planning and policy-making, and serves on library-wide committees, task forces, and teams including Management Council. NCSU Librarians are expected to be active professionally and to

Qualifications
Required: The successful candidate will have relevant experience in an
academic or special research library, demonstrating knowledge of current
and emerging technologies as they contribute to meeting the needs of
researchers and students. Knowledge of trends in evidence-based clinical
and research information and scholarly communication, and the ability to
contribute to bioinformatics and bioscience initiatives relating to
areas such as domestic and wild animals, food safety, biomedical
research, zoonotic diseases and public safety is expected. A successful
record of administrative and supervisory experience, with evidence of
experience directing staff and other resources to create innovative,
user-oriented services and products is required. Excellent interpersonal
skills and the ability to communicate clearly and knowledgeably, orally

The Library Assistant – Access Services is responsible for supporting day-to-day functions of the circulation and interlibrary loan department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Korean Studies Librarian

The Korean Studies Librarian will develop, manage, and evaluate the collections from and about Korea and provide specialized reference assistance and instruction to library users as well as assistance to cataloging and acquisitions. • Does original and copy cataloging of Korean print and audio-visual materials.

• Works closely with acquisitions in placing orders, providing full order records, prices and vendors.

• Works closely with the librarians for China and Japan in the management of Duke’s East Asian Collection and the provision of services.

• Monitors, reviews, and develops cooperative collection development relationships within the Triangle Research Libraries Network (TRLN), primarily with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH).

• Participates actively in national and international professional associations, such as the Council on East Asian Libraries.

• Participates in development and fund-raising efforts and cultivates relationships with established and potential donors as appropriate.

• Supports a departmental goal of providing outstanding collections and services in support of International and Area Studies working closely with the other members of the department and representing IAS and international perspectives on library task forces, committees and working groups as appropriate.

• Undertakes special projects and performs other duties as needed and assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Manages students responsible for shelving and interlibrary loan in the East Asian Collection.

Education

Required: MLS from an ALA-accredited program or an advanced degree in a relevant discipline combined with related library experience.

Preferred: MA/MS in a relevant subject area.

Experience

Required: Prior experience working in an academic research library using internationally established protocols and processes, fluent language skills in Korean and good oral communication skills in English; knowledge of contemporary Korean society and culture; knowledge of McCune-Reischauer romanization rules; experience using OCLC’s Connexion and cataloging Korean materials; ability to search and interpret information retrieved from the Internet; ability to work independently and as a member of a team; demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding customer services; capacity to take initiative and thrive in a rapidly changing environment; effective presentation skills; willingness to speak to diverse groups; desire and interest to work with undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and library staff; ability to set priorities and manage multiple projects; working knowledge of MS Office applications.

>Preferred: Knowledge of web authoring tools; experience with Korean bibliographic systems and with Korean electronic resources.

Salary and Benefits

Salary dependent on qualifications and experience. This appointment is for 36 months. Comprehensive benefits package includes 20 days vacation, 13 holidays, 12 days sick leave; health, dental, disability and life insurance and support for professional development and training.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the information network and processes required to analyze the mortgage and housing industries, the US economy, mortgage insurance competition, capital markets and customers
  • Identify and translate trends affecting MI and the mortgage industry and incorporate into all Business Intelligence products

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional research experience

  • Proficient in the use of HTML for the creation and maintenance of web pages
  • Ability to thrive in an electronic environment and understand technology issues as they relate to the delivery of information.
